Coltsfoot - Spring!
Coltsfoot or Tussilago Farfara is a plant that flowers before the leaves comes out. It is spring and coltsfoot is blooming now. I picked these in my garden and I will make a tonic. It is well known for curing cough and used in Europe for a long time for this purpose. I believe the name comes from "cough go far away."
The flowers are good also for sadness in lungs. Of course now the educated ones say plant may have a liver poison but flowers are still safe. If you can identify and pick them it is very good to put them inside a jar of honey and let it sit and it will be a nice cough syrup in the winter. They do look like the Dandelion flowers but Dandelion already has leaves.
Be well! Kumudini.
